The proliferation of data has caused a new modern data stack to emerge with companies like Snowflake and Databricks, and the hyperscale cloud providers – AWS, Azure, and GCP – define the components. However, one critical piece of the modern data stack is missing today. That is the ability to effectively support “composite AI” workloads: graph analytics, reasoning, neuro symbolic AI (symbolic AI + deep neural networks) workloads and the like. These workloads are typically handled outside cloud relational database systems in a combination of navigational, procedural, and tensor-based technologies that lack the rigor, scalability, and reliability of relational databases.
